My new Nikon D50
I've never had a goot photo camera. My father knows something about photography, but he never spent money on cameras. I can remember of an older Mamiya EF2 he had, it was nice but I was a little child, new nothing about cameras or photography and while I was playing with it I broke it. Then my parents bought an analog point-and-shoot Olympus, I never liked it but what could I do? Over the next years I tried to use that camera, my parents never thought on buying me something better. It's OK, I don't blame them!
Last year, I scratched some money and bought my own Sony DSC-H1. The camera is nice, not very big and has a good quality, but I was looking for a DSLR. I just couldn't learn more about focal lengths, lenses, higher ISOs, light and so on because the Sony had only one fix lens, most of the settings changed automatically and I was often limited to it's possibilities.
When I finally decided it was time for a DSLR, I didn't knew what camera to choose: Nikon, Canon, Pentax, Konika-Minolta, etc. In Romania, most are using Canon and Nikon, I don't know why good cameras like Pentax and others are almost not available here. Sure I could get them from online shops, but I was also planning for the future and knew I will buy some used lenses for the beginnig. Not much to think about, my only left options were either Nikon or Canon. I don't know why, Canon's point-and-shoot cameras look good, but their DSLR's are like toys. The plastic feels so fragile, the overall look was not really convincing for me. Then I tried the Nikons... not much to say, just "perfect". Nikons feel solid, everything is placed on it's right place, quality is perfect, from my point of view this is the best camera for me, Canon is somewhere after Pentax& Co. in my eyes (sure I'm not a pro).
And finally, after three months of searching for the cheaper price, I bought the Nikon D50. I'm very happy with it, even if I bought it just 2 days ago and had no time to go out for a shooting. However I plan to to take some photos the next days and fully enjoy the new D50.
