Nikkor 70-210mm, my new telephoto lens
After reading many reviews, searching the whole internet I knew there is one telephoto lens I'd wish to own. It's the AF Nikkor 70-210mm f/4-5.6 D lens. There is no online shop or photography homepage in Romania I haven't searched for this lens, posted several times in forums and online photomarkets that I would buy it.
More than one month ago someone from Bucharest contacted me, but unfortunately the person selled it before I could reply to the email I had received. Then for about three weeks ... nothing. One morning at 8am, my mobile phone was ringing, it was the morning after a long party in a club. Finally, I answered because that someone was really insistent. I was that sleepy, all I could understand first was something related to a lens and Ken Rockwell, it was enought to draw my attention and listen carefully. The guy on the other end of the phone was really offering me the telephoto lens I was looking for. We made the deal quick, and after two days I had it delivered and mounted on my Nikon D50. Huurrayy!
As you expect, the lens is used, but in a very good condition. My new baby is a bit heavy (590g), but for a well made metal lens this is ok, focus is really fast but not quiet, results are nice and sharp. The only problem with it is that I almost forgot about my standard 18-55mm kit lens.
You can see some of the photos I've shot during the last two weeks with this lens either on my homepage gallery, or on my Flickr page. I can really recomend this lens to anyone, you probably won't find it new as it was discontinued around 2000 but if you are lucky just don't miss the oportunity.
